Spirit Blossom Master Yi: Searing spell army

Spirit Blossom Master Yi · from the PoC community · 2026-10-14

Discount and redraw a starting spell, double spell buffs and send animated attackers through blockers with Overwhelm.

Build

Needs 4★Champion level 30

Overview

Secret Technique and The Beast Within let your early units and animated spells carry the game. Searing Brilliance adds discounted, drawing copies of a starting spell, so you can keep casting without waiting to afford the eight-cost champion.

Players recommend the spell-buff core with a flexible third slot. This version exchanges the Spellshield of the existing guide for more spell access. All three relics provide powers that work before the champion is played.

The build

Searing Brilliance

At Game Start, a random spell in your deck gets Mark of Medarda and four copies are added. The item discounts it and adds draw. Practice Makes Perfect is a valuable result because repeated casts increase its buff; Ghost supplies cheap targeting, and Petals of Fate provides more draw. The random target is not guaranteed to be your preferred spell.

Secret Technique

Doubles stats allies gain from spells. Target useful permanent units as well as the animated attackers. Four stars keeps otherwise temporary buffs on your surviving units.

The Beast Within

Gives allies Overwhelm, with another +1|+1 for allies with a subtype. The animated army can push Nexus damage through small blockers rather than relying on every enemy to disappear.

Secrets of the Spirits doubles stats gained by Ephemeral allies. Its current text says twice, not the triple gain described in some older advice. Level 30 and three Epic slot upgrades fit the relics; the rune is separately unlocked.

How to play

Keep a cheap unit and an ally-targeting spell. Start building the board immediately, then use discounted casts to create animated attackers while growing a unit that can survive into the next round. Do not keep an expensive champion at the cost of having no opening play.

At three stars every spell targeting only allies can be animated; it is not limited to the first cast each round. Leave board space for the extra units. Four-star persistence keeps temporary stat gains, but it does not remove Ephemeral from a unit.

Play Spirit Blossom Master Yi when his Play effect will create a useful free attack from the spells you have already cast. He is a late finisher rather than the requirement for your first strong turn. Check whether the current board has room before committing eight mana.

Drafting and alternatives

Prioritize affordable ally-target spells, early bodies, spell discounts and protection for a growing permanent attacker. More expensive spells can be useful, but they must justify the tempo cost. Avoid drawing through the deck without advancing a finish.

Black Shield restores protection against targeted disruption, while Perfect Hex Core guarantees a generated targeting spell each round. Frozen Tomb can summon the champion early but skips his Play effect. Do not expect that summon to produce the same free attack as paying to play him.

Star-power checkpoint

Four-star Can't Stop; Won't Stop makes allied round-only buffs permanent except Barrier, allowing repeated spell buffs to build a lasting attacker. Three-star Lesson Two animates every qualifying spell, and two-star Fruits of Wisdom refunds one spell mana on the first spell each round. Six-star Final Lesson adds stats when a card targets an ally; it improves the engine but is not required for the persistence plan.
