Caitlyn: repeat champion spells and trigger traps

Caitlyn · from r/LegendsOfRuneterra · 2026-10-14

Keep champion-spell access and discounted entries available so traps can remove enemy threats.

Build

Needs 3★Champion level 30

Overview

Caitlyn plays spell-based trap control with repeated entry strikes. This version combines Echoing Spirit and The Grand General's Counterplan with Stalker's Blade. A rare-only Deathless-and-keyword package is the main alternative (see below).

The build

Echoing Spirit

Creates seven champion copies in the deck and discounts champion spells. It improves access to Caitlyn and supplies more spells while she is on board.

The Grand General's Counterplan

Creates a Fleeting champion copy at Round Start. Use it as Piltover Peacemaker while Caitlyn is alive, or as a replacement after she dies. Keep mana and hand space available for that copy.

Stalker's Blade

On summon, strike the weakest enemy. It provides immediate removal and, with a leveled Caitlyn, another opportunity to use her strike payoff after traps have activated.

How to play

Develop Caitlyn and use strikes, spells and useful cheap allies to stock the opposing deck with traps. Trap damage happens when the trapped card is drawn. Choose removal that helps you survive until those draws, rather than relying on a planted trap to clear a threat immediately.

Use the recurring champion spell and discounted copies to sustain control. If Caitlyn dies, the next copy can restore the board engine and produce another entry strike. At six stars, the generated removal spell discounts as traps activate; lower stars do not have that same tool.

Effects that make the opponent draw can trigger more traps, but also give it cards. Wait for dangerous enemy spell mana to be spent before granting a fresh hand when possible.

Drafting and alternatives

With rare relics only, run Voidborne Carapace, Guardian Angel and Stalker's Blade. It shines in specific adventures; in ordinary runs, more strike slots are better. Don't count on the Deathless revival repeating forever: players see it work, but the relic text doesn't promise it.

Mortal Marks from Ethereal Remitter is a common pick, but enemy stat growth can outpace its initial health reduction. Reaching that node also requires surviving the opening fights. Do not give up every useful earlier power merely to save all rerolls for one hoped-for result.
