Leona: Daybreak growth and a reliable engine follower

Leona · from r/LegendsOfRuneterra · 2026-10-14

Activate repeated Daybreak effects to grow the board, Stun threats and maintain pressure.

Build

Needs 6★Champion level 30

Overview

Repeated Daybreak Stun are the plan; players disagree about how many champion spells to generate. This six-star loadout combines health growth from Shield of Daybreak, Formidable from Strength of Stone, and an engine follower drawn by Found Fortune. The Daybreak play pattern and the rare-relic alternatives below also work without the full constellation.

The build

Shield of Daybreak

Daybreak allies have Tough, and each ally's Daybreak activation grants allies health. Repeated activations help the board survive and increase its damage when Formidable applies.

Strength of Stone

Summoned allies gain health and Formidable. Health becomes their Strike damage, so avoid unnecessary damage before attacking.

Found Fortune

Playing Leona draws the highest-cost card below her base cost, gives it an Epic item and makes it free. The intended base-deck target is Rahvun, Daylight's Spear. Another drafted card at the same eligible cost can compete with that target.

How to play

Play a Daybreak card as the first card of the round while you build the early board. The entry-draw relic is there to find Rahvun, Daylight's Spear, which changes how many Daybreak effects you can activate in that round. Drafts that add another eligible base-cost card can change that target.

Her own relic and Formidable support a health-based board. At six stars each Daybreak is activated again, so repeated qualifying plays produce more growth and control. Do not expect later cards in a round to trigger Daybreak before the enabling follower is present.

Drafting and alternatives

Look for cheap Daybreak plays and protect Rahvun, Daylight's Spear: he lets later cards activate Daybreak as well. Keep board space for him before playing Leona.

With rare relics, run Archangel's Staff with Chemtech Duplicator or The Grand General's Counterplan. Spell mana helps pay for repeated champion spells; duplication needs its mana threshold. The recurring champion spell offers more Stun, but some players avoid it because the extra cards crowd an already full hand. Troll King's Crown is a finishing alternative when Stun blockers alone do not provide enough Nexus damage.

Star-power checkpoint

Aspect of the Sun

Whenever an ally's Daybreak is activated, activate it again.
