Nasus: slays into stronger units and cheaper hands

Nasus · from r/LegendsOfRuneterra · 2026-10-14

Kill units to grow your strongest ally, reduce hand costs at six stars and use recurring champion removal.

Build

Needs 6★Champion level 30

Overview

Nasus needs an initial slay before his scaling can take over. Players disagree about his performance against enormous early enemies; the recurring champion-spell build gives him a practical removal engine, but requires surviving the opening. This six-star version uses hand discounts after slays. A slow start and poor draw remain real weaknesses.

The build

Disciple of Shadows

Allied bodies reduce the champion's cost. Its entry damage can slay your own small units, starting the scaling when enemy units are too large to kill. Count which blockers you will lose before playing him.

Echoing Spirit

Extra champion copies improve access to Nasus and his discounted champion spell. This supports repeated removal rather than waiting for combat to produce every kill.

The Grand General's Counterplan

A Fleeting champion copy each Round Start provides another Siphoning Strike while he remains on board, or a replacement body if he dies. Reserve mana for the spell rather than filling the board with expensive followers.

How to play

Mulligan for cheap allies and the champion. Build enough bodies to discount him, then use his entry damage to turn expendable allies into slays. You can target your own unit with Siphoning Strike when no enemy is small enough; compare the resulting growth with the blocker you lose.

Repeated strikes grow champions Everywhere and trigger the six-star hand discounts, which stop at one mana. At three stars, the strongest ally receives additional stats at Round End; that growth cannot help an earlier combat. Keep casting removal and developing discounted units. Restoring Restored Sun Disc supplies the six-star team buff, but you need not wait for it before using the hand discounts.

Drafting and alternatives

Prioritize draw, cheap support champions and free allied bodies. The opening matters more than adding another expensive finisher. Vulnerable helps pull a manageable enemy into combat.

The Beast Within is a flex option when large units need Overwhelm to end the fight. Some players prefer Corrupted Star Fragment to transfer a growing ally's stats and keywords to Nasus; that trades away another blocker. Choose protection and sustain for the adventure rather than assuming the scaling makes early damage harmless.

Star-power checkpoint

Soul Reclamation

When you slay a unit, reduce the cost of every card in your hand by 1 (to a minimum cost of 1).
When you Restored Sun Disc, grant allies Everywhere +5|+5.
