Udyr: Plunder into Mastered Stances

Udyr · from the PoC community · 2026-10-14

Use opening Nexus damage to discount Udyr, then turn strikes and Burst-speed stances into board control.

Build

Needs 6★Champion level 30

Overview

Swain's Raven Army starts the Nexus damage that activates Packed Powder. That gets the champion into play earlier, where his summon and strikes generate or discount stances. Secret Technique improves spell-based stat gains throughout the game.

Players recommend this speed package alongside slower mana and spell-copy alternatives. Unlike the existing protection-and-spell-mana guide, this version spends two slots on early champion access. Its opening depends on actually damaging the enemy Nexus.

The build

Swain's Raven Army

Game Start Drain five from the enemy Nexus, providing Plunder when the damage lands. Its spell-mana refill is restricted to the named champion and does not refill mana for this carrier.

Packed Powder

Plunder reduces the carrier’s cost by two. It also adds +1|+1 for each different round in which you damaged the enemy Nexus. A five-cost champion becomes three cost while Plunder is active; you still need three unit mana to play him.

Secret Technique

Doubles stats allies gain from spells. It works before the champion is drawn. Do not multiply every separate star-power grant as if it were another spell buff; players dispute that stacking, and the reliable value is the spell’s own stat gain.

Level 30 and three Epic slot upgrades fit this build.

How to play

Keep Udyr when the opener can supply three unit mana and the starting Drain will connect. At the five-star mana checkpoint, this can be a turn-one champion. If damage is prevented, find another Nexus ping or plan for his full cost instead of spending mana on an unavailable discount.

Summoning or striking with him creates Stance Swap, or makes the copy you already hold free. Use the first stance on a suitable ally to trigger the three-star strike and potentially refresh the champion’s discount. Do not assume a strike happens if there is no valid enemy.

At six stars, Mastered Stance Swap is Burst. Save a control stance for the enemy’s attack when that prevents more damage than spending it immediately. Below six stars the Focus-speed spell cannot be played during combat, so the same defensive sequence is unavailable. Build one durable threat, choose useful keywords and attack while the board is controlled.

Drafting and alternatives

Take champion discounts, useful early units, protection and affordable spells that keep the stance engine moving. Spellshield helps preserve a large unit against targeted removal. More stats do not answer every Stun, Recall or Silence.

Chemtech Duplicator rewards a slower six-mana plan. The existing Black Shield and Hidden Tome combination protects units and refills spell mana instead of forcing early entry. Choose that route when opening Nexus damage is unreliable or repeated enemy removal is the real obstacle.

Star-power checkpoint

Six-star Stance Mastery III replaces ordinary stances with Mastered versions and accelerates them to Burst. Five-star Manaflow provides the third starting mana needed for the unmodified three-cost Plunder opener. Two-star Focused Mind creates a stance when you gain the attack token and accelerates ordinary stances to Focus. Three-star Stance Mastery II gives the first stance play each round a weakest-enemy strike.
