Vi: turn draw-based Health growth into combat damage

Vi · from r/LegendsOfRuneterra · 2026-10-14

Use Formidable and starting-deck stats to make growing Health matter in combat, with Plunder support for a cheaper champion.

Build

Needs 3★Champion level 30

Overview

Vi's early star powers grant Health and Impact to the strongest ally when you draw. This follower-focused setup uses Formidable to make that Health deal combat damage. It's a different plan from champion-centered free-attack builds and six-star direct-damage finishes. The opening needs enough bodies and draw to build a surviving attacker.

The build

Strength of Stone

Gives allies Formidable and additional Health. Combat damage uses current Health, making the draw-triggered Health grants useful offensively. Damage taken reduces that offense as well as survivability.

Stacked Deck

Grants team stats based on starting deck size. Both the extra starting durability and later draw-based growth support the board. Cards shuffled into the deck during combat do not change the initial deck-size calculation.

Packed Powder

Plunder can reduce Vi's cost after the enemy Nexus has taken damage. Its scaling rewards rounds where you damage that Nexus. Check Plunder before playing her; owning the relic alone does not make her cheaper.

How to play

Develop inexpensive allies and draw cards to improve the strongest body. Preserve its Health where possible because Formidable uses that number for combat damage. Impact can help damage the enemy Nexus during an attack and enable a later Plunder play.

The damage stat used by Formidable is separate from Vi's printed Power and the Power checks on her own card. Do not infer a champion level-up simply from a high-Health follower. At three stars, Relentless Force II is the draw-based Health/Impact engine this build uses.

Drafting and alternatives

Draw and useful inexpensive units develop the board; large enemies still require surviving your early turns. Against persistent Nexus pings, Turret Plating can help after Vi is on board, and Disarmed reduces enemy Power. These are adventure-specific defensive options, not automatic wins.

Champion-focused alternatives use Cease and Desist for its conditional free attack and Stalker's Blade for an entry strike. Check relic ordering and target survival rather than assuming every entry strike triggers Impact. Six-star direct-damage builds using The Curator's Gatebreaker are a separate plan; they need enough champion Power and access to the sixth-star growth.

When you draw a card, grant your strongest ally +0|+2 and 2 Impact.
