Viego: consume Mists and turn growing stats into damage

Viego wants disposable allies to die so that Encroaching Mist keeps growing. That's why the support-sacrifice relic is a good pick for beginners, combined here with a summon strike and team Overwhelm. This version uses rare relics and explains the death engine without assuming six stars.

Corrupted Star Fragment

Support: Kill my supported ally and grant me its keywords and stats.

Supporting a disposable ally makes Viego slay it, take its stats and keywords, and trigger the allied-slay engine.

Stalker's Blade

When I'm summoned, I strike the weakest enemy.

The summon strike contributes removal when Viego arrives; check that he has enough attack to kill the target.

Troll King's Crown

Allies have Overwhelm.

Overwhelm converts large champion and Mist stats into Nexus damage through blockers. This slot becomes less necessary after the corresponding constellation power.

Develop cheap bodies such as Hapless Aristocrat and use Shape of Fear when sacrificing a body advances your engine. At two stars, deaths of allies with enough power reduce the cost of large allies in hand.

When Viego can be played safely, attack with him immediately left of the ally you intend to consume. A grown Mist is a natural target. The three-star allied-slay trigger happens only once each round, so additional sacrifices in the same round are not unlimited extra star-power summons. Leave room for the new units and let Overwhelm turn the scaling into damage.

Spectral Scissors is an upgrade for additional copies. Strong item-and-power combinations help a lot, but you don't need a lucky roll to start.

Consuming expendable allies is the core; players disagree on how much extra Overwhelm or copying you need. Disciple of Shadows can accelerate Viego and slay small allies on entry. Spectral Scissors adds copies, but board crowding can waste the next useful summon. If you own the fourth-star team Overwhelm power, the Troll King's Crown slot becomes redundant.

The level-20 reward draws a champion at Game Start, which may be your support champion. It does not guarantee Viego specifically. Keep enough early bodies and draw to establish the death engine without relying on a lucky item combination.

Beyond the Mists II

Each round, the first time you slay an ally, and the first time you slay an enemy summon an Encroaching Mist.
