Akshan: Chosen growth and discounted champion spells

Akshan · from the PoC community · 2026-10-14

Use free targeted upgrades to advance Landmark and grow the champion, then cycle discounted strike spells and Countdown rewards.

Build

Needs 3★Champion level 30

Overview

Grow the champion through targeted spells and created-card plays, advance your Landmark and use the rewards to keep your hand moving. Chosen by the Stars converts those plays into permanent stats and eventual finishing keywords; Echoing Spirit supplies champion copies and discounted spells.

It's the trio players recommend most for him, in guide builds and player votes alike. Compared with the Chemtech and Tomb guide, it starts the targeting engine immediately without waiting for six gems or a delayed champion summon.

The build

Chosen by the Stars

Fated rewards the first allied targeting effect each round, and Augment rewards created-card plays. At ten attack, Empowered supplies Challenger, Overwhelm and Regeneration. Regeneration heals at Round End; it does not save a unit from lethal damage during a strike.

Echoing Spirit

Game Start adds seven champion copies to the deck and reduces champion-spell cost by one. Copies in hand become the champion spell while he is in play, giving more targeting and strike access. One discount alone does not make the base three-cost spell free.

Perfect Hex Core

Round Start creates a zero-cost Hex Core Upgrade that can target any ally at Burst speed. It is both a targeted effect and a created-card play, fitting Fated, Augment and Landmark progression. Level 30 and three Epic upgrades equip the trio.

How to play

Keep Akshan, affordable development and useful targeting. His two-mana cost fits the ordinary two-star opening. Use the Upgrade after developing an allied target, preferably the champion when his Fated trigger is still available.

Advance Warlord's Palace and later Warlord's Hoard through useful targeting and strikes. The three-star power doubles Countdown completion effects. Time and Dedication becomes an extra recurring target spell at four stars; it is a bonus to the basic trio, not a free spell supplied by the relic itself.

Use Grappling Hook when the champion has been targeted and can survive its strike. Once the Hoard completes, its draw-and-discount reward can help sustain more plays. Keep a replacement champion copy and enough cards in the deck when chaining draws. Infinite play is conditional on the discounts, targets and card supply you actually have.

Drafting and alternatives

Favor affordable targeted spells, champion draw and protection. The bonus upgrade that makes Grappling Hook Burst changes your response options; without it, do not treat the base spell as Burst during an enemy open attack. Temporary attack from Landmark can help Empowered for a round, but it wears off.

Black Shield replacing Hex Core improves protection but removes a guaranteed free target spell. Hidden Tome offers spell-mana refills, while Chemtech Duplicator returns to the original later-gem plan. Use those resource alternatives when the run needs them instead of assuming every relic combination has the same opening.

Star-power checkpoint

Three-star Going Rogue II doubles Countdown completion effects. Two-star Sentinel Business supplies starting mana and the opening Palace. The four-star upgrade adds Time and Dedication; six-star Absolution adds mana theft and revival after the respective Landmark destruction. Neither later effect is needed for the core targeting-and-growth plan.
