Gloom and board damage on Play, collect keywords from deaths and chain six-star
Gloom into further removal.
At a glance
Overview
Use
Vex's entry to weaken and damage enemies, then let outside-combat deaths feed more
Gloom through the sixth star.
Voidborne Carapace collects keywords from dying units to make the surviving champion more useful.
This all-Rare approach removes the attack-trigger Boost and combat invulnerability from the Axe/Foil guide. Its value comes from the entry and spell-control sequence, so it can begin working before a safe champion attack is available. It also leaves the champion more exposed after that entry.
The build and order
Utmost Despair
Play grants enemies
Gloom. Equip it above
Wicked Harvest so that the stat reduction precedes the damage effect.
Gloom is a reduction to Power and Health, not an interchangeable printed point of damage.
Wicked Harvest
Play deals three damage to all other units, including your allies. Count the defenders you will lose. This relic damage should not be assumed to receive a spell/Skill-only conversion or damage bonus merely because the champion has one.
Voidborne Carapace
When any unit dies, grant the bearer its keywords. Allied deaths can contribute as well as enemy deaths. A keyword still needs to appear on an actual dying unit; the relic doesn't guarantee
Lifesteal or a specific protection effect.
Set up an entry that matters
Mulligan for useful cheap removal and the champion when she can stabilize the board.
Pie Toss and
Withering Wail help manage the opening through the spell rules. The two-star power makes your spell and
Skill damage to enemies take the form of
Gloom; that is separate from counting the Harvest relic's printed damage.
Let the opponent commit units when it is safe to do so, then play the champion into a board where the entry can secure useful deaths. The sixth-star
Everything is Misery adds
Gloom to the remaining enemies when one dies outside combat. A small initial death can therefore matter more than damaging a large enemy that survives.
At three stars, Round Start Boost also grows existing enemy
Gloom. It doesn't create the same starting
Gloom on an untouched unit, so apply the relevant effect before expecting it to grow.
Keywords and longer fights
Inspect the collected keywords before choosing an attack or block. Extra health, healing access or evasion can change which plays are safe, but none is guaranteed by the relic trio itself. Don't sacrifice an essential blocker merely to collect a keyword you cannot use yet.
The two entry relics are Play effects. Reviving the champion without playing her doesn't repeat their
Gloom or damage. If you return her to hand or play another copy later, the new entry can trigger again, but a new body doesn't automatically inherit every keyword previously granted to the dead one.
If you also own
Explosive Finale, outside-combat enemy deaths deal Nexus damage. That is a separate constellation purchase; the sixth-star chain alone shouldn't be described as owning every other damage payoff.
Drafting and the trade-off
Prioritize affordable removal, draw and protection that keeps the champion alive after the first entry. Large enemies may need several
Gloom applications, while your own small allies are
Vulnerable to the Harvest damage.
All three relics are in the Rare pool, including Silver Reliquaries and the higher vault sources listed on their pages. No Epic slots are required. If repeated attacks are safe and you own the Epics, the existing attack-control build gives up this entry package for stronger attack-based growth. Below six stars, you lose the chain of
Gloom from outside-combat deaths.
