Volibear: Titanic ramp and Portal Pals

Volibear · from the PoC community · 2026-10-14

Use extra starting mana and a growing deck to reach the first Titanic summon, then refill your hand with heavily discounted units.

Build

Needs 3★Champion level 30

Overview

Slay small units to build Sigils, bring down your first Titanic ally and turn its entry strike into more fuel. Starforged Gauntlets advances the opening, Stacked Deck improves the board as the adventure grows, and Portal Pals supplies follow-up units.

It's his most popular trio in 10★ clears and guide builds. Compared with the Overwhelm guide, the extra starting gem helps you reach the first meaningful play sooner, while Overwhelm must come from units or rewards. Early fights can still be the hardest part.

The build

Starforged Gauntlets

The base champion is already Titanic, so the extra starting gem needs no stat-enabling relic. With two stars, begin with three gems; five-star mana raises that to four.

Stacked Deck

Gain 200 starting gold and give allies +1|+1 for every twelve cards beyond eighteen in your deck at Game Start. Thirty cards gives +1|+1, forty-two gives +2|+2. Its strength grows in longer adventures; extra cards still need to be useful. Check whether a buffed unit actually reaches eight attack or health before treating it as Titanic.

Portal Pals

When the carrier is summoned, create two random seven-cost-or-more units from your regions and discount them by his base cost of nine. They can be champions, and high cost does not guarantee Titanic stats. A duplicate of the champion can become a champion spell while he is in play. Level 30 and three Epic upgrades equip the trio.

How to play

Keep Invocation Of Thunder, Valhir's Prophet and early interaction. Icevale Archer or Flash Freeze can buy time when the enemy develops faster than you.

Use Avalanche when the kills and resulting Sigil of the Storm stacks outweigh losing your own board. Slay your own units counts, but damaging a unit without killing it does not. Build enough discount for Volibear or another useful Titanic ally.

After the champion arrives, inspect both generated cards before spending your remaining mana. A genuinely Titanic follow-up gets the two-star entry strike; a non-Titanic unit may still be a good blocker or have a useful Play effect. Leave board space for Sigils and units instead of assuming every discounted card can immediately fit.

Drafting and alternatives

Draft efficient removal and useful Titanic units. Trifarian Might gives qualifying units another entry-strike route; Titanic Wake makes actual Titanic allies much larger. Neither fixes an opening hand with no affordable action.

Buy strong cards to grow Stacked Deck rather than filling the deck indiscriminately. Black Shield protects early units, Big Guns improves spell removal, and The Beast Within restores the Overwhelm plan from his other guide. Replacing Stacked Deck sacrifices later team stats; replacing the Gauntlets sacrifices immediate mana.

Star-power checkpoint

Three-star Subterranean Thunder II makes two Sigils per slay; two-star Sky Splitter supplies mana and Titanic summon strikes. Six-star Doom of All adds Sigil-based stats but is not necessary for the basic ramp-and-Portal engine. Do not assume its later bonus enlarges every earlier strike in the summon sequence.
